In this talk, Dr. Chopra reflects on the landmark discoveries and achievements of the last seventy-five years of medicine: the story of the first successful organ transplant, performed in 1954 by Dr. Joseph Murray; the Nobel-recognized discoveries of hepatitis B and hepatitis C; the emergence of celiac disease as a prevalent condition worldwide; and the rise of metabolic associated steatotic liver disease as the dominant chronic liver disease on earth.
Looking ahead, he takes up six of the top stories in medicine and the biological sciences playing out right now and coming to greater fruition in the next five years, including artificial intelligence, the gut microbiome, CRISPR and gene editing, and messenger RNA. The talk is currently offered for CME credit through Pri-Med.
