Dr. Chopra's public voice rests on a substantial academic record: well over a hundred peer-reviewed publications in journals including the New England Journal of Medicine and Gastroenterology, with particular depth in viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, liver biopsy technique, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

As Editor-in-Chief of the hepatology section of UpToDate, the electronic textbook of medicine subscribed to by some two million clinicians in 195 countries, his editorial judgment shapes what those clinicians read, and as Faculty Dean for CME at Harvard he led programs reaching some 80,000 clinicians across more than 150 countries each year.
